2021 Season Cancelled due to COVID-19

COVID–19 UPDATE: 12 April 2021

It is with much regret and great sadness that as a result of the unprecedented and unpredictable conditions arising from the continuing spread of Covid-19, also known as the Coronavirus, that we announce today, in consideration of the health and safety of our student participants and staff members, the cancellation of the 2021 Achill Archaeological Field School program.

Despite our hope and strong desire to offer the 2021 program, the global spread of variants of the virus, as well as the recent introduction by the Irish Government of a mandatory 14-day hotel quarantine of people coming into Ireland from certain countries from abroad, to commence from April 15, (America & Canada were announced on April 9), this leaves us with no choice but to cancel/postpone the 2021 summer program.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and kindly ask for your continued understanding and support to attend in 2022.

Priority of dates for the 2022 program will be given to 2020 and 2021 students who roll over to 2022, ahead of new enquiries and bookings from 2022 student participants.

We will be updating our website with the 2022 program details and dates by June 1, 2021 after which we will be able to accept bookings for all courses on or before 1st September 2021.

We hope the safe rollout of the various vaccines will enable a return to normality later this year and we look forward to an exciting field season of excavation and survey in 2022.

Students with any queries should contact: info@achill-fieldschool.com

With every good wish. Keep well and safe.

Management, Achill Archaeological Field School
