Brian O’Hara BA, LLB


Brian is a field archaeologist and heritage consultant. He graduated with a BA in Archaeology and History from NUI Galway in 2000 and is eligible to hold archaeological excavation licences in Ireland and Northern Ireland. He has extensive experience in the commercial sector having managed large scale archaeological excavations and projects on behalf of both state agencies and private companies. In 2017 he completed the excavation of a major Late Bronze Age/Iron Age hill top settlement and ritual site at Taylor’s Hill, Co. Sligo on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (publication forthcoming). As an archaeological and heritage consultant he has compiled and edited specialist reports, assessments and EIA chapters.

Brian has a particular interest in the transition from the Iron Age to the Early Medieval and the development of urban settlements in the later Medieval. In Co. Longford he has been involved in community archaeology projects to rehabilitate cutaway bog and record wetland archaeological sites. In 2009 he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from NUI Galway.
